Luckley School, founded in 1918, has always occupied its present site. The main house, which dates from 1907, replaced Luckley Manor, an ancient property mentioned in the Domesday Book. Oakfield School was established in the Lake District in 1895. The two schools were amalgamated on the Wokingham site in 1959, as an independent educational trust regulated by the Charity Commissioners, and continued as Luckley-Oakfield School until 31 August 2013.

In September 2013, the school changed its name to Luckley House School. The Governors felt that neither the name nor the crest any longer truly represented the modern, forward-thinking school that now exists. The new name, whilst retaining the heritage of the school’s stunning Main House building, known as ‘Luckley House’ in the early 1900s, also signifies the ‘family community’ that the school provides. Further, a new contemporary logo was designed to reflect the strong Christian ethos of the school, with the use of a symbolic ‘cross’ within the letter ‘Y’.

In September 2014, we announced our decision to move to coeducation from September 2015, which we believe will allow us to take best advantage of the opportunities in modern education.

We are located in the south east of England, just 45 minutes from Heathrow airport. Set in 17 acres of beautiful leafy grounds, Luckley House boasts superb facilities, including modern classrooms, spacious art studios, well-equipped science laboratories and high-tech food, design & technology rooms.

The grounds at Luckley are our pride and joy, with the beautifully landscaped lawns and majestic woodland area at the back of the main house. Our pupils love spending their break times on the two zip wires and adventure trail, strolling around the woods or sitting on the benches chatting to their friends.

The Simon Richmond Music Centre is a state of the art music centre with acoustically perfect rehearsal/tuition rooms, high-tech IT classroom, a recording studio and a performance hall. The Whitty Theatre is a beautifully-designed professional working theatre, complete with dressing rooms, wardrobe and a large foyer. The Randle Manwaring Sports Centre comprises a large sports centre with all-weather pitch, playing fields, cross country tracks, netball and tennis courts, a fitness suite, trampoline, dance studio and a climbing wall.

Our curriculum is offered in the context of a broad curriculum which celebrates the arts and sports, as much as academic achievement. Small class sizes enable full participation in lessons and we closely track individual progress and attainment of targets. This enables our students to achieve grades that will secure a place at the university of choice, or highly regarded employment or apprenticeship opportunities. Our students consistently gain places at prestigious universities on competitive courses. Recent destinations include Architecture at Bath, Medicine, Philosophy, Law, Physics and Maths at Durham and Economics at University College London.

To apply, please complete our registration form and submit with £100 registration fee. We require an initial report giving an account of your child’s academic achievements and personal qualities. Your child will sit entrance tests under examination conditions and take an ‘English as Additional Language’ (EAL) test to determine his/her level of English. Arrangements can be made to sit our tests at their current school. Applicants will also be invited to have a Video interview with the Head, if unable to visit the school in person.

Our aim is to provide a warm, supportive home for our boarders, in which friendships and social skills can be nurtured. We have a small boarding community and our boarding offer is very flexible to meet the individual needs of the modern family. We provide a home for both full and weekly boarders from the UK and overseas, and in addition, our flexi-boarding provision enables a number of our day students to regularly stay overnight.

Living accommodation for all our boarders is situated in the Main House and above the Sixth Form Centre. Both houses have a vibrant atmosphere that is warm and friendly. Your son or daughter will a share modern, comfortable bedroom and will be encouraged to personalise their own space with photos, posters and treasures.

We offer a boarding package for international students wishing to come to Luckley for a minimum of one term into Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 12, ultimately to improve their English language and experience a British education. An all-inclusive fee includes all food, books, extra-curricular activities, most boarding trips, EAL lessons and transport to and from the airport on specified dates.

Our rich and varied programme of extra-curricular activities will enable your child to explore different interests and discover new talents. All boarders are encouraged to take part and the variety on offer ensures that there is something for everyone.

We offer a broad sports curriculum where all individuals can achieve. We believe that all pupils should have a good understanding of how to lead a healthy active lifestyle. We offer activities at both a recreational and competitive level.

Our pupils study a wide range of musical styles, techniques and genres, ranging from the early classics to contemporary music, as well as modern music technologies and sound mixing. There are lots of opportunities to perform to audiences in our theatre.

Taught within our professional theatre, Drama at Luckley provides the opportunity to promote self-confidence and communication skills and to develop awareness and sensitivity through group work and performance. All pupils take part in Drama lessons and can attend the extra-curricular Drama Club. Speech and Drama lessons are available leading to success in Trinity exams. There are lots of opportunities to perform on stage!
